Intended primarily for Feldenkrais Practitioners, this training is also open to practitioners in related disciplines with some Feldenkrais experience who would like to better understand the nature of human experience and how these ideas might enhance their practice. For more information please .
Experience doesn't just happen. It's something we each compose for ourselves, through the (largely unconscious) choices with which we organize ourselves and our interactions with the world around us. The Feldenkrais Method provides tools which can improve those choices. This training will help you utilize those tools to more effectively:
- enrich your life by becoming more aware of how you compose your own experience, and
- make your practice more effective by thinking in terms of shaping the way your clients compose theirs.
The paradigm presented in this training is not the way the Feldenkrais Method is normally described or taught. But it will provide you with a powerful new way of understanding how the Method works and accomplishes what it does. You will learn new ways of thinking about the issues your clients present that can move your work to a whole new level. You will leave the training with a new understanding of the nature of human experience and the possibilities it offers to each of us.

Functional Integration lessons and Living in Gravity
On Saturday 31 May following the training, Ralph will offer individual sessions in Functional Integration. Subject to the clients' permission, training participants may observe. A public workshop on Living in Gravity will be offered the following day, Sunday 1 June. This workshop will systematically explore the experience of being grounded, with particular attention to the role of subcortical motor control in that experience. It will apply and extend ideas introduced in the training and allow you to see how you can present ideas like these with the general public. Participants in Composing Experience are encouraged to attend, and will receive a discount from the fee for that workshop.

Registration and Venue information
Ralph Strauch, Ph.D., practices the Feldenkrais Method in Los Angeles, California. He trained with the founder of the Method, Dr. Moshe Feldenkrais, and brings to his practice a wide range of insight and experience. He was formerly a Senior Mathematician with the Rand Corporation where his research focused on choice in the face of uncertainty, and has been exploring the mind-body relationship through the internal martial arts and related practices since the late 1960s. The ideas he presents in Composing Experience have developed and evolved over that time. A more complete description of his background can be found here.
